Week 8: Cryptids - Hidden Creatures

From shadowy lake monsters to mysterious forest creatures, stories of strange and unexplained animals appear in cultures all around the globe. In this course, we’ll travel to different regions of the world each day to explore famous cryptids and the legends behind them. Along the way, we’ll learn about the history, folklore, and sightings connected to these mysterious creatures while also asking an important question: could any of them be real? By looking at science, culture, and storytelling, students will discover why cryptid legends have fascinated people for generations—and why the search for the unknown continues today. Week 8: Cryptids - Hidden Creatures of the World Virtual Institute meets: online Monday-Friday 3:00 - 4:00 PM Eastern from August 10 - August 14 Cost: $100 This online class is part of our Virtual Institute series, a set of 8 weeks of learning designed to allow learners of ALL communicative abilities a way to learn and engage with spellers from around the world. We discount our rate to just $20 per class to make our educational opportunities more accessible. Each class will feature instruction and opportunities to respond. Teachers will provide words to spell, reasoning questions with 2 choices, reasoning questions with predictable responses, and open-ended questions. Learners are encouraged to participate as much as they like and to participate in ways that work best for them. Your teacher will email the zoom link with additional class information the week before class starts. A recording will be provided to all registered participants in case your preference is asynchronous participation.
