Service Description
In this course specifically designed for multimodal communicators (letterboard, keyboard, AAC users), we will explore how autism and neurodivergence have been a part of storytelling throughout history. We will discuss the way media only focuses on certain parts of the autistic experience when writing autistic characters, what it means for a character to be "autistic-coded," and how representation influences how people with disabilities are treated in real life. This course will make you feel scene. Join Emma on Thursdays at 6:30pm eastern / 3:30pm Pacific for a class scaffolded for learners to be able to engage at many levels. Recordings will be provided for those who are unable to attend live classes. Class dates: 9/4, 9/11, 9/18, 9/25, 10/2, 10/9 (make-up date 10/16 if necessary)
