Tough Topics: Exploring Capital Punishment & the Death Penalty Over the next year, we’re going to take on some tough topics - things that might make us uncomfortable or spark disagreements and yet are incredibly important issues for us to explore as ethical humans. This fall, join state-certified teacher Lisa Mihalich Quinn on Thursdays at 3:00 pm Eastern for an in-depth look at capital punishment both in the United States and around the world. We’ll explore different nations’ policies, learn about victims' perspective on the death penalty, dive into wrongful convictions and the appeals process, and discuss efforts to abolish state-sanctioned killing. Along the way, we’ll reflect on our own thoughts and opinions, noting how they may change as we study the topic in-depth. This course is suitable for students of all communicative abilities; however, due to the emotional nature of the content, we recommend it for students who are able to handle mature / difficult topics. Classes will offer response opportunities for students responding at multiple levels (spelling words, making choices, completing predictable responses, and answering open-ended questions). Recordings will be provided for those students who are unable to attend live classes.

Cancellation Policy

Online course refunds will be considered up to one week before the course begins. A 5% processing fee will be subtracted from the refund amount. Refunds will be considered at 50% during the week leading up to a course start date. After a course begins, no refunds will be given. By purchasing this course, you agree to our refund policy. Any no-shows or consultations cancelled less than 24 hours in advance will be subject to the full fee for the time booked.
