Anne Butler

Communications Partner/Teacher

Anne earned her BS in education and M.Ed. in special education, from the University of Maryland.

Over the last two decades plus, Anne has had a diversity of opportunities working in the field. She has taught as a special educator in Anne Arundel and Howard counties with both elementary and middle school students, working to support and include students within general education classrooms.

After several years of teaching, Anne worked for MCIE (Maryland Coalition for Inclusive Education) where she supported school systems in Maryland to develop inclusive practices through school based action planning teams, professional development, support in developing and implementing collaborative lesson plans, and individualized student planning and technical support.

For over a decade, Anne worked as a grant coordinator/supervisor of graduate interns at the UMd, Department of Special Education. In this role, she was able to observe, assess, and prepare future special educators in their school placements and during once a week seminars at the university. One of Anne’s favorite parts of this position was working directly in the schools and interacting with students. This is why she took a short hiatus from university supervision to go back into the classroom in 2015 for a few years, as a primary learners teacher for autistic students in grades K-2 in Howard County.

Anne loves being a lifelong learner and is grateful for the autistic self advocates who have taught her so much about various methods of spelling to communicate. She is so excited to be a communication teacher at REV!
